Hotel Mauna Loa is placed in Playa Avellanas de Santa Cruz, 10 miles south of Tamarindo, in the province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Our village is about 0,4 miles from the Pacific Ocean, and has wide bungalows, that can host up to 4 people. You can see some photos of our hotel by clicking here.
Each bungalow is equipped as follows:
air conditioned rooms orthopaedic beds safe private bathroom with hot water, shower and facilities for disabled people free wireless Internet connection
The bungalows are located in a wide tropical garden where you will be able to observe many kinds of butterflies and humming birds, surrounded by some of Costa Rican most beautiful plants and flowers.

Hotel Mauna Loa is situated in a zone of rapid touristic, economical and infrastructural development: Playa Avellanas, in the province of Guanacaste. Here and in the nearby shores surfers can test their abilities on the principal attraction of the place: every kind of waves, from the smallest, good for beginners, to the awesome ones of Playa Avellana and Playa Negra, higher than 4 meters! We also offer surf lessons from beginner to advanced!
If you are seeking peace and rest, you could stay in the wonderful Playa Avellanas, a sandy bay about 2 mls long, or you could just remain inside Hotel Mauna Loa: here you'll find many sun bathing facilities, including the swimming pool we built just for you!
The beach, famous for its waves, is also under UNESCO protection, due to the presence of a big manglar (mangrove), which you'll be able to admire from a nice wooden bridge that leads to the Ocean.
